TapLocal App℠
Case Type: Cottage Food Producer

Your kitchen doesn't have a storefront.
Your business still needs to be found.

Home bakers, jam and preserve makers, and other cottage-food businesses run on word of mouth, markets, and pickup orders — with no public address to build a Google presence around. TapLocal App℠ sets up your profile the right way, installs an NFC + QR Google review card, and hands you a report on what customers already say.

No gating. No incentives. No guarantees. Ever.

Exhibit A — the card, at pickup
// Why cottage food is a special case

A home kitchen, a public reputation

Home kitchen ≠ public address

Cottage food laws exist to keep home-based production legal, not to hand out your home address. We set up Google the same way — hidden by design.

Markets and pickup spots, mapped right

Your service area can reflect where you actually sell — farmers markets, pickup points, delivery zones — not just where you bake.

Reviews do the trust-building

When someone can't walk into a shop to check you out first, reviews are what stand in for that first impression.

Verification, handled

We personally walk you through Google's process so a home-based business doesn't get flagged as fake or incomplete.

// Process

Four steps, no theatrics

Set Up

We build your service-area profile, hide your home address, define where you actually sell, and personally walk you through Google's verification.

Install

A branded NFC + QR card comes with every order or pickup — on packaging, a table card, a handoff card, or printed right on the receipt. Tap or scan straight to your review page.

Collect

Customers leave reviews the normal way, at their own pace — one tap and two clicks. No scripted asks, and no discounts, freebies or rewards for reviews — of any rating.

Learn

You get a TapLocal Intelligence Report™, built only from your own public reviews — what's working, what to fix first.

// Cottage Food questions

Cottage Food Businesses: questions, answered plainly

Will my home address be public?
No — hidden by design, the same as any service-area business. Google only shows your defined service area, never your kitchen address.
Do I need to disclose that I'm a home-based business?
That's a matter of your state's cottage food law and labeling requirements, not a Google requirement. We don't provide legal advice on cottage food licensing — check with your state's cottage food program for that.
How does verification work for a home-based food business?
Same as any other service-area business — usually a short video walkthrough of your kitchen or work setup, not a mailed postcard. Your home address itself is never shown or verified publicly.
I sell at multiple farmers markets — how does that work?
Your service area can reflect the general area you serve rather than each individual market by name.
What if I only sell online or by pre-order, with no local pickup?
Google Business Profiles are meant for businesses with some local, in-person component. If you're fully online with no local pickup or delivery, a standard listing may not be the right fit — talk to us and we'll tell you honestly.
Can the card go on my packaging?
Yes — that's a common placement, along with a table sign at pickup, a simple handoff card, or printed right on the receipt with each order.
